Maintenance

Scope: Maintenance personnel, is to maintain the interior and exterior of the facility in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Prior to occupancy of any sleeping room by a new resident, the room must be thoroughly cleaned including the bed, bedding, and furnishings.

Compensation is $18/hour.

Position Requirements:

  1. Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  2. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  3. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  4. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  5. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  6. Must meet certification requirements of the State of Idaho, CPR/First Aid, specialty education requirements, etc … within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to move, sit, stand, bend and walk intermittently throughout the work day.
  2. Must demonstrate mental stability and the ability to cope with the physical and mental stresses of the position.
  3. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  4. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds on an intermittent basis.

Organizational Structure:

  1. The Housekeeping and Maintenance reports to the Administrator, as applicable.

Physical Environment:

  1. Works in well-lighted and ventilated areas throughout the facility.
  2. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours.
  3. Will be subject to frequent interruptions and variations in routine.
  4. Will be involved with residents, personnel, visitors government agencies, etc… under all conditions and circumstances.
  5. May be subject to hostile and emotional upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.
  6. May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc… during the work day.
  7. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc… including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.  Exposure category I.

Responsibilities

Resident Care:

  1. Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing assigned tasks.
  2. Perform all assigned tasks in accordance and within established policies and procedures, and State Regulations.
  3. Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to assure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.

Documentation:

  1. Record all entries in charts, etc…, in an informative and descriptive manner, following facility policies related to the use of abbreviations.
  2. Documents medications according to facility policies and state regulations.

Communications:

  1. Report all changes in resident condition to the RN.
  2. Report all complaints and grievances made by residents, their families or others to the Administrator.
  3. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  4. Answer the phone in a professional manner, taking messages, as needed.

Environment:

  1. Keep common rooms, hallways, and kitchen and service areas clean and clear of clutter.
  2. Assist with non-direct resident care tasks, including, but not limited to: cleaning, laundry.
  3. Keep current on knowledge of Fire Safety, MSDS and Disaster Management practices.

Professional:

  1. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  2. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
